As most of you know, altcoins are alternatives to Bitcoin.
In the past two years, altcoins have been on the rise Sharply. Take a look at the chart below, and you will understand why I say that.
In early 2017, Bitcoin dominance stood at 85% of the total cryptocurrency market capitalization which dropped to 31% in early 2018 before rising again to over 50%.
Do you know why?
Well, it was because many investors started trusting other currencies for better investment returns, which started a race of fundamental analysis of various altcoins in the market.
So far, CoinSutra has covered more than 30 altcoins and helped its users understand why they exist.
I believe that Bitcoin is not the ultimate solution, but altcoins also have their place in the system.
But what kind of altcoins are they?
Well, the main thing I see in an altcoin is its viability and the quality of the team members supporting it.
That’s why today I’m going to share some altcoins that I believe have strong team support.
1. Ethereum
Ethereum, the computer of the world, is a well-known altcoin in the market.
As of now, most developers are working on Bitcoin or Ethereum, and even more so on Ethereum due to the number of possibilities with smart contracts and decentralized applications.
That’s why Ethereum has most of the developers and team members like Vitalik Buterin and Vlad Zamfir who are trying to improve Ethereum every day.
Here’s a sneak peek at Ethereum Team.

Litecoin is the first known fork of Bitcoin which came into existence in 2011.
At that time, not many people knew about cryptocurrencies, but this new fork of Bitcoin was created to improve certain aspects of Bitcoin such as block timing, block size, etc.
Litecoin was created in October 7, 2011 By Charlie Lee, former Google employee. Litecoin is designed to complement Bitcoin.
As of now, Litecoin is a testbed for Bitcoin. When segwit was implemented, Bitcoin’s core developers looked to Litecoin’s successful launch of segwit as a reference.
Just like Bitcoin, it is a decentralized and open source project supported by excellent contributors. Here’s a sneak peek at it Team composition.

However, this privacy feature has its drawbacks, which I will not go into detail now.
The team consists of some core developers and some volunteer developers making it one of the most decentralized teams in the crypto world. Here’s a sneak peek at it Core team.

Cardano is a third-generation open source blockchain platform that is expected to facilitate smart contracts and decentralized applications.
I know some of you may be wondering what the difference is between Ethereum and Cardano.
Well, there are many.
Ethereum is blockchain 2.0 while Cardano is 3.0.
Cardano focuses on solving four critical problems that blockchains face in the world today, all in one place:
- Scalability
- Compatibility
- Sustainability
- Judgment
It is one of the most research-based and peer-reviewed blockchain projects in the world and this is what makes it different from others.
