Prepare your deck and get ready for adventure – an interesting guide about Splinterlands awaits you!
What is Splinterlands?
As a pioneering blockchain trading card game, Splinterlands brilliantly blends deck-building strategy with rapid-fire combat. It features as a play-for-profit NFT, enabling players to profit from their gaming exploits.
Boasting the most active user base of any blockchain game in Q2 2022 according to DappRadar, Splinterlands clearly has broad appeal. Founded in 2018 by Matthew Rosen and Jesse Reich, the game empowers players to truly own their digital cards unlike traditional titles.
Although inspired by classics like Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone, matches in Splinterlands unfold quickly but still require smart tactics. NFT cards form the backbone of gamification for profit mechanics, providing true digital ownership of this innovative hybrid genre.

Splinterlands map
Splinterlands stands as a pillar of the blockchain gaming scene as one of its original success stories. After years of anticipation, the game’s iconic Earth dimension will finally become usable for players with the upcoming The Secret of Praetoria map expansion.
Land has proven to be a hot commodity in the metaverse and web3 games, with Splinterlands-claimed NFT tokens selling for astonishing sums despite the mystery surrounding their usefulness. The 150 player-owned territories containing variously resource-rich and rare plots of land promise to make ownership worthwhile.
With terrain types, buildings, resources, and more of impact value, Splinterlands represents a complex expansion beyond its roots in the world of mech combat. This important and long-awaited addition is primarily intended to bring Splinterlands back to the forefront of web3 gaming.
Players can also look forward to engaging gameplay possibilities that combine strategic card battles with deeply customizable land ownership.
Splinterlands NFT
Splinterlands gives players real ownership of NFT cards that are central to gameplay. Cards can be used in Splinterlands challenges, battles, freely traded, combined to level up, or burned for in-game currency. With full control, players can enjoy cards as game assets or collectibles.
The 500+ cards span Mythic rarity levels and seven item types called Splinters, each with unique stats. The $10 Starter Pack provides starter cards, while Daily Quests and Contests offer more earning opportunities.
However, the official Splinterlands marketplace is the main source for obtaining new cards. Here players can browse listings and filter by attributes like price, rarity, Splinter, and more. The market enables targeted acquisitions to enhance your collection and create perfect assortments. Additionally, cards can be bought and sold through secondary NFT markets, increasing Splinterlands’ interoperability.
Splinterlands gives real ownership through NFTs, providing engaging gameplay and collecting while maintaining player value and control.
Splinterlands Code (SPS)
Splintershards (SPS) serve as the main form of payment and governance token in the trading card game Splinterlands. As a cryptocurrency token, SPS aims to provide decision-making control and influence over stakeholders, asset owners and the player base.
With a circulating supply of 389 million out of a maximum of 3 billion, SPS is currently trading at $0.13. Most of the symbols are betting. The price of SPS has proven to be very volatile, reaching all-time highs of $1 on three separate occasions in 2021 before falling 80% to $0.20. Despite being close to record lows, the SPS has recovered from previous significant declines, indicating the potential for further price increases.
For investors focused on potential profits rather than gameplay, the performance of SPS compared to gaming NFTs will be of interest. Thanks to its governance and payment tool within an active game blockchain, SPS offers speculative upside but its erratic volatility makes the investment riskier than holding Splinterlands game NFTs directly. However, those looking to profit from volatility may find an opportunity in SPS.
